MoU between MCS (NUST) and IST - 25 May 2010
MoU Signatures ceremony between Military College of Signals (MCS) - National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad was held at MCS, Rawalpindi on 25th May 2010. The ceremony was attended by Brig (Retd) Imran Rahman - Vice Chancellor Institute of Space Technology, Dr. Asif Raza – Pro Rector (A&R) National University of Sciences and Technology, Maj Gen Shahid Maqool – Commandant Military College of Signals, Delegates from Industry and Faculty members of the two Institutes.
MCS has a rich history in the field of Telecommunications, and the unique honor of producing the first telecomm engineer of the country. MCS being a Centre of Excellence for Telecommunications has taken certain steps towards dev of human resource in Satellite Communication Systems Design and Space Technology. Establishment of this Satellite Communications Lab comprising of two earth stations linked together using a space segment in C-Band is one step towards this direction. This unique facility is first of its kind in any University in Pakistan. It will provide a state-of-the-art training centre to develop an in-depth understanding and practical experience of the major aspects of Satellite Communications Systems. A Series of Seminars, Short-Courses on Satellite Communications are regularly conducted at MCS.
This MoU between the two leading Institutes is aimed at opening avenues for developing joint academic projects in all the relevant fields of technology including space Technology. Both the Universities will take the advantage of experts of relevant field to develop joint projects in areas of Mutual Interest. In addition students and faculty we use the training facilities and labs of these institutions to enhance technical know-how.
