Department of Computer Software Engineering
The Department of Computer Software Engineering at MCS is one of the first Computing Departments in Pakistan which started Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Software Engineering. Its Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering is accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and so far 20 batches have graduated from this prestigious department. We are also the first Computing Department in Pakistan which started postgraduate programmes in Software Engineering. The department is well known for its high quality research in the different areas of software engineering including evolutionary software design, enterprise modelling, requirements engineering, and software development processes. Besides software engineering and information systems, the department is at the forefront in other domains of computing including Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, Wireless Sensor Networks, Data and Text Mining, Ontology based systems and Semantic Web. The Department offers BE, MS and PhD programmes in Software Engineering.

The department realised the future potential of software related education and upgraded its programmes to include PhD degree since 2001. The objective is to produce high quality graduates with state of the art knowledge and practical skills. Our students are making novel contributions in academia and professional industry globally as well as in national market. The department is regularly updating its course contents with respect to current trends in market and demands of research for upcoming technologies. I strongly encourage the faculty and students to pursue academic, creative, research based novel and extra-curricular activities to enhance their knowledge, vision and broaden their horizon.
